Belize or Bust
So one our interns Shelbye is going to Belize in a few days. She will be there for 2.5 months plowing ground for Count Me In Teen Camp Belize in December. She knew she was supposed to go the second the opportunity presented itself just a few short months ago. God knew she was supposed to go before time began, so it wasn’t really a surprise to Him. We are going to miss her a whole lot (especially my 2 year old son) but know its the absolute best thing she could be doing right now in her life. I hope we can all be open to His call on our lives and that Shelbye’s story inspires us all to Stop, Drop and …….Go!
Kenya 2012 - meeting
We are always interested to see what God is going to do each year when we have our Kenya meeting. This year about 90 people showed up and our group looks so amazing! This is going to be a lot of fun and a lot of work. Our camp in Kenya could be above 1,500 this year so everyone please…pray.
One for all and all for One
How do you process extreme poverty? What do you do when you see a child with no parents, no home and no hope? Now…what do you do when people who have no running water, no electricity, no shoes and live day to day with out the basic necessities of life and do so with more joy you have. It’s a sucker punch to your world view and there is no better way shift your definition of success from gathering to giving, from using others to being used and replacing hate with love, than to see these things first hand. After the overwhelming hopelessness floods in you realize something. THIS is the reason Christ suffered unto death! To give hope to the hopeless. Not for me to be comfortable but instead to find the value of being dispossessed of the things that lull me into a comfortable, containable, impotent lifestyle and move me from comfort to compassion that turns into an unconquerable passionate mission that could never be fulfilled in one lifetime. He died to give us life…I guess we should die too. Die to the things that keep us from seeing as He would and wipe the sleep from our eyes to reveal a world that can only be salvaged by a bunch of misfits that won’t fit into the system that the all consuming world has set up, but instead to find eternal value in laying ourselves down at the feet of the One.
One for all and all for One.
steath asked: This is incredible! How can I get more info on ways to help or to serve?
